Boston White Eagles Organization Information

The Boston White Eagles Soccer Association (BWESA) objective is to promote and encourage the game of soccer for the families of Greater Boston. We want to accomplish this by providing play at all levels from instructional to highly competitive, and by extending our support for youth development programs that instill the values of sportsmanship and physical fitness while developing self-discipline, teamwork and friendships.

History

The dream started in 1952, when K.S. Polonia became the first Polish Soccer club in Boston. Polonia was formed by a group of young man interested in playing soccer. They also wanted to preserve a unique Polish tradition dedicated towards excellence in the sport. The club was self sustaining and only occasionally received financial support from benefactors. Because of the player’s commitment, the Polish people in Boston enjoyed many years of high level and quality soccer games. In 1962 the K.S. Polonia re-organized under a new name ORLETA. The club again was a player managed and self-sustaining. In 1963 the team won a 3rd Division Championship registered in the Boston District Soccer League. In 1970 the League reorganized and the competition became Mass. State-wide. In 1974 the ORLENTA Club reorganized again under the name Polish White Eagle Soccer Club. With reorganization the club grew stronger, attracting new members and renewed commitment to sports excellence. This was evident in 1976 when the Polish White Eagle S.C. went undefeated and won the 2nd Division Championship as well as the Massachusetts State Championship. Over the next years the PWESC enjoyed many 1st Division and Mass State Championships with the highest achievement of reaching Semi-finales of USA Amateur Championship.
From those humble beginnings, we have evolved into a major community sports association.

Teams

Currently BWESA supports two teams, the Over-30 and Over-40. Both of these teams compete in the New England Over-the-Hill Soccer League (NEOTHSL) – www.othsl.org. The league hosts teams from the greater Boston region divided into four major leagues: Over 30, Masters, Seniors and Veterans. The Over-30 league hosts 60 teams organized in 5 divisions, while the Masters (over-40) league hosts 100 teams organized in 6 divisions. After each regular season, the top team from each division (North and South) is promoted to the next division, while the bottom team is relegated. The regular season is also followed by a playoff with the top 4 teams in each division playing a single-elimination style tournament.
